Kirsten is an experienced research professional and data scientist, with a PhD in wildlife epidemiology. Kirsten’s skills lie predominantly in R programming, big data analytics, statistical analysis, mapping and data visualisation.

Simon is a Senior Data Scientist at the Financial Times, where he and his team build and automate commercial solutions for many parts of the wider business. Alongside this, he loves making code and statistics more accessible for less technical audiences.

Christel Swift is a Principal Data Scientist with extensive experience in music and media measurement and advisory. In her current role, she works across the various BBC service areas helping stakeholders utilise data and shiny to make informed decisions.

Sid Dhuri leads the advanced analytics unit at Hiscox Insurance, where he leads a team of data scientists across US, UK and EU helping claims operations with insights, forecasts and automation with the application of machine learning, modelling and NLP.

Chantelle is a Senior Analytical Consultant at Merkle with keen interest in coding best-practices for data analysis excellence. With a PhD in Psychology & Animal Behaviour, she uses data analysis to gain insights in the academic & commercial environment.

Markus Gesmann is a co-founder of Insurance Capital Markets Research (ICMR). He has spent 20 years in both insurance and capital markets and is the former head of analysis at Lloyd’s, where he set up a market wide analytical performance framework. 

Ethan Beal is a data scientist at Mediacom who creates modelling & optimisation tools for powerful marketing campaigns. His avid interest in machine learning started while investigating the use of deep-learning for plant genetics at the University of York.

Currently working as Portfolio Optimisation Lead at Tokio Marine Kiln, Johnny is passionate about enhancing the computational aspects of actuarial work in the insurance industry and the London market.

After graduating Luke had a stint working in the Civil Service and the ONS Data Science Campus. He has spent the past 2 years working for the Samaritans on operational data. Luke is happiest deriving insights and telling the story through visualisations

Robert Smith is based at the University of Sheffield & Dark Peak Analytics (UK), where his research and consulting work combines methods from health economics & data science. Robert has also contributed to inform the government’s response to COVID.

James is a data scientist at the Bank of England where he works on implementing the Bank’s data strategy. James has been using R for about eight years and, when not doing data-related things, he enjoys waffles and swimming.
